Hanukkah Candy

Bulk Hanukkah Candy

Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, is a Jewish festival that starts in December and lasts for eight days. Customs that have become associated with the holiday include songs, games, festive meals, and the giving of gifts.

Hanukkah Traditions

As a religious holiday celebrated around the world, Hanukkah has incorporated numerous traditions over the years.

Celebration of Miracles

The most famous Hanukkah tradition involves the lighting of the menorah, with a prayer recited and one candle lit for each of the celebration's eight nights. Specific fried foods (like latkes and doughnuts) commemorate the ancient miracle of the oil, in which a scant supply of consecrated oil in the temple stretched to last eight days. Children often play a traditional game with a dreidel, a four-sided top inscribed with letters representing the phrase "a great miracle happened here."

The Story of the Gelts

Another Hanukkah tradition involves gelts, which are chocolate coins. In ancient times, Jewish teachers would travel long distances to teach underprivileged children without any compensation. During Hanukkah, families insisted on paying these teachers for their services, and they would accept coins as a token during the holiday season. Chocolate coins later came to symbolize this act of giving money during the Hanukkah season.

Hanukkah Candy

Hanukkah becomes a little bit sweeter when you include bulk Hanukkah candy in your celebration.
