Crafty Treats For A Graduation Candy Bar

Once you’ve got the basics together it’s time to get crafty. Use these tutorials to make candy diplomas, candy graduation caps and themed kisses.

Candy Diplomas

Start with any candy that comes in a roll. Lifesavers or Bottlecaps work well. Wrap each roll of candy in white paper so that it looks like a rolled up diploma. Then tie a string or ribbon around to keep the paper in place.

Graduation Caps

Fill a glass jar with tiny edible graduation caps. All you need is a bag of Reese’s Miniature Peanut Butter Cups, some squares of black paper, double sided tape and string or ribbon for the tassel.

Using the double sided tape, stick a square of paper to the top of each peanut butter cup. Then use another piece of tape to attach the tassel to the top. Viola. Instant graduation cap. If only earning the real thing was that easy.

Themed Kisses

Buy or make small round stickers to decorate Hershey’s kisses. If you want to print them yourself, you can use Microsoft Word and Avery Multi-Use label paper to design custom stickers perfect for the bottom of each Hershey’s kiss.

You can print the year, a picture of a cap and diploma, or a picture of your child’s smiling face. Once they’re printed just stick them on and enjoy.

Of course, no candy bar is complete without the perfect centerpiece. Build a quick and easy one by printing off a picture of your graduate on cardstock. Use tape or glue to attach the photo to the end of a bamboo skewer.

Then fill a glass jar with shimmer sixlets. With more than 20 colors and mixes to choose from, you’re certain to find a color that matches your theme. Stick the bamboo skewer in the candy and you have an adorable, personalized centerpiece. For a bigger centerpiece add more photos. You can even jazz it up with ribbon.

Finally, to add some extra class to your table, make these simple weighted tassels. They’re perfect for holding down the corners of your tablecloth for an outdoor candy buffet.

You’ll need some colored raffia, a small rectangle of cardboard, and scissors. Get the full tutorial here. Martha Stewart recommends sewing buttons to the corners of your tablecloth to hang the tassels on, but you can also use small clips to serve the same function without the sewing.
