Celebrating 50 Years of Sweet Services!

Children and adults around the world know that nothing brings a smile to the face quite like candy. For half a century, Sweet Services has been providing sweets and smiles to people far and wide through their wide range of sugary delights. 50 years is a worthy cause for celebration in any regard, but it’s perhaps even more special when a business hits this monumental milestone. As we celebrate 50 years of Sweet Services, let’s look back on the humble beginnings of our beloved company.

Alan Clements first established Sweet Services in 1970. After working for several years at a five-and-dime store in Homewood, Illinois, and supervising its extensive penny candy department, Clements decided it was time for him to take on a sweet business venture of his very own. He opened his own wholesale candy company, and Sweet Services was born.

Like so many great businesses, Sweet Services had its start in a small one-car garage. From humble beginnings, the company began to grow, and Sweet Services soon moved into a larger warehouse in Matteson, Illinois. The company then expanded their wares to include chocolates, hard and soft candies, and lollipops in addition to Dum Dums, which had been with the business from the very beginning.

The advent and widespread use of the Internet caused business to boom yet again for Sweet Services, which previously worked with churches, nonprofit organizations, and school and park districts for B2B candy sales. Individual consumers were able to buy all their favorite treats directly from Sweet Services with the simple click of a button. As a result of this digital endeavor, the company grew even more and outgrew yet another warehouse. Sweet Services now resides in a spacious 6,000-square-foot warehouse in Frankfort, Illinois, where it continues to provide sweet treats to consumers around the country.

From the very beginning, Sweet Services has placed a strong importance on customer service and satisfaction. Alan Clements often drove his van to and from a local trucking terminal to pick up and hand-deliver shipments of Dum Dum suckers. The importance of forming strong customer relationships has never wavered in our 50 years of operation. Our customer relationships are built upon trust and the knowledge that we’ll fulfill and ship orders quickly and correctly every time.
